The unnecessary slaughter of a perfectly healthy, sentient being who does not want to die is always cruel. This should not be a controversial statement on a website where people claim to care about ethics, animals and social justice. 

This is the type of tone-deafness from vegans I talk about. I can care about social justice in regards to humans, I am under no obligation to think about animal suffering. Vegans hit you over the head with talk of cruelty, but they remain silent when it comes to human suffering.

 I advocate for human rights as well as animal rights, as does every other vegan I know. In fact, between the two of us, the only one claiming that some suffering doesn’t matter is you.
